WHAT IS AFRICA TABERNACLE EVANGELISM?
Africa Tabernacle Evangelism (ATE) is part of Africa Harvest Ministries, which is part of The Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM). ATE facilitates a partnership effort between the US based church, Assemblies of God World Missions and the national church.
The US based church usually provides the funding for the steel structure and/or the man-power for setup. ATE provides the means to facilitate and coordinate with the national church on proposed building sites and arranges the detailed manufacturing and delivery process of the structure. The national church provides manpower for the setup and finishes the detailing of the structure to their desire.
WHAT IS A TABERNACLE?
A tabernacle is a set of steel trusses and a roof system that can easily be shipped to Africa and set up within a matter of a few hours. It is easily constructed, providing immediate use.
Each truss includes 10’ legs, which when bolted together and secured on the footing will be connected with three other trusses with legs. The trusses are connected together with a ‘Z’ purlin. The purlin will then be the supporting element of the metal roofing sheets that are then installed.
WHAT SIZE IS A TABERNACLE?
A standard tabernacle is 36’ x 48’. The tabernacle can be increased in width and additional trusses can give the structure a longer dimension. A standard tabernacle will easily seat 250 people.
WHAT DOES A TABERNACLE COST?
Cost per tabernacle is approximately $7,500.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
There are different ways that you can help. First, sponsorship of a tabernacle is a great way to get involved. We are in great need of tabernacles in nearly every country on the continent of Africa. If you cannot purchase an entire tabernacle, you can co-sponsor one with others. You can give for a specific area or region to join with others to meet a need.
Second, we need volunteer teams to go to Africa to build the tabernacles that they and others have purchased. This gives you a first-hand look at what the impact of giving makes in Africa. You may contact our office for current needs.
WHAT IMPACT DOES A TABERNACLE HAVE ON A COMMUNITY?
The tabernacle provides an immediate place of worship for a needy congregation. Most places begin having services as soon as the trusses and roof are complete. Many times that will begin with a dedication service and continue on with a crusade where many give their heart to the Lord. We have found that a small congregation will see immediate growth in numbers of attendance. Often the congregation will double in numbers the first week after the tabernacle is complete.
We also assist in church planting. Building a tabernacle gets attention! People will come to see what is going on. For many, seeing is believing; they see the tabernacle, they hear the Gospel and they believe the report of the Lord.
